“My Takeaways from SuperCorrExpo 2016” by David Callif, CEO/Owner, BCM Inks

BCM Inks’ David and Rob Callif and Associates celebrate their digitally printed SuperCorrExpo corrugated booth. Vanguard Packaging of Kansas City, MO printed and designed the booth.

In 2012, the AICC and TAPPI decided to move SuperCorrExpo from Atlanta, GA to Orlando, FL. I just returned from attending/exhibiting at SuperCorrExpo 2016 in Orlando. The overall response from everybody I spoke with, converters and suppliers, was that SuperCorrExpo 2016 was a great networking and educational event. Some of the most interesting take aways were as follows:

1) Anything digital got people’s attention. Barberan, Durst, HP, EFI, Xante, and Sun Automation touted their digital printers. Speed and print quality have definitely improved.
2) Flexo Rotary Die Cutters with the ability to print on the inside and outside of the box in a single pass were showcased by HyCorr and Global BoxMachine. (KL)
3) Direct high graphic corrugated print elevated another level with the print results obtained on the Gopfert High Board Line press. BCM Inks was a proud participant with Gopfert, Kemi, JB Machinery, etc. in helping achieve outstanding print results. Request a 2017 calendar printed with BCM’s Superflex III inks to see a new print level.
4) Sustainability initiatives/innovations were limited. However Tuesday’s keynote speaker, Ron Sasine, former Senior Director of Packaging Procurement, Walmart, mentioned Walmart was introducing a new sustainability initiative. This iniative will impact any company who does business with Walmart. See below for details.
5) Disruptive software technology was evident from X-rite’s Pantone Live to BCM’s Color ConneXion. Go to BCM’s website to learn more about this revolutionary, easy to use/implement color management software.
